What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse Specialist position at B&D Integrated Health Services East?
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced SAIOP Facilitator/Addition Specialist to provide high-quality clinical care and case management within our Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP). This position plays a critical role in supporting individuals through recovery by delivering counseling services, coordinating care, and ensuring compliance with clinical and administrative standards.
Key Responsibilities
Client Care & Support
- Assist consumers in overcoming barriers to treatment
- Provide weekly case management services to assigned consumers
- Deliver crisis intervention and coordinate inpatient or community resource referrals as needed
- Conduct community visits and use motivational interviewing to re-engage inactive or non-compliant participants
Treatment Facilitation & Documentation
- Facilitate group sessions, including aftercare and specialized support groups
- Develop, implement, and update individualized Person-Centered Plans (PCPs)
- Complete all required documentation (EMR notes, NC TOPPS, crisis plans) within mandated timelines
- Obtain urine drug screen (UDS) samples in compliance with regulations
Compliance & Coordination
- Maintain active consents for collaboration with stakeholders (e.g., probation officers, family members, shelters)
- Ensure compliance with agency, state, and federal regulations
- Coordinate care with primary care providers, psychiatry, and external agencies
- Develop and review crisis plans with consumers and their support systems
Discharge & Program Management
- Complete discharges within required timelines for non-compliance or authorization expiration
- Develop transition plans for clients completing treatment
- Monitor census and support timely client replacement to maintain program stability
Community Engagement & Outreach
- Coordinate services with community providers and treatment teams
- Act as an advocate for consumers in areas such as housing, legal services, and social support
- Conduct outreach and implement weekly marketing strategies to increase program awareness
Additional Duties
- Participate in supervision, meetings, and staff development activities
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Sporadic evenings or holiday as needed
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of counseling experience, preferably in substance abuse treatment
- Active licensure required:
- Preferably LCAS or LCAS-A, and/or CADC
Skills & Competencies
- Strong case management and care coordination abilities
- Experience with crisis intervention and motivational interviewing
- Excellent documentation and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
