Job Description:
B&D Industrial seeks an experienced Gear Hobbing Machinist to join our precision machining team. In this role, you will operate Gear Hobbing machines to produce high-quality gears and components according to specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate Gear Hobbing machines, including loading and unloading workpieces, adjusting machine settings, and monitoring operations.
- To ensure accurate gear production, read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
- Perform necessary calculations to determine cutting speeds, feeds, and machine settings.
- Measure and inspect gears using precision measuring instruments (e.g., gear checkers, micrometers, calipers)
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machine and production issues as they arise.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
- Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and quality personnel as needed.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Gear Hobbing Machinist or similar role
- Proficiency in operating Gear Hobbing machines, including understanding machine controls and programming.
- Knowledge of gear manufacturing processes, cutting tools, and materials
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong math skills for calculating machining parameters.
- Experience with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
- Familiarity with quality standards and procedures (e.g., ISO, AGMA)
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy workpieces and materials.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Formal training or apprenticeship in machine tool operation or gear manufacturing
