About the Position
We are seeking an Instructional Systems Designer to be responsible for the design, development, and evaluation of instructional programs and training systems to enhance learning and performance across the organization for a government client.
The duties of this position will be performed On-Site in Boise, Idaho.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with subject matter experts, project managers, and other stakeholders to define and analyze learning objectives and desired outcomes.
- Design and develop instructional solutions that prioritize application and performance—think less lecture, more doing.
- Conduct job task analysis and apply systems-level thinking to create training that moves the needle where it counts.
- Integrate Kirkpatrick Training Evaluation (Levels 1-4) into your instructional design process, using evidence and feedback to drive measurable improvement.
- Work on-site in a collaborative, fast-paced office setting with a diverse team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Performance Technology, or a related field.
- Direct experience collaborating with client organizations and staff; experience with Military/DOD or Wildland Fire agencies is highly preferred.
- At least 10 years of experience in Instructional System Design (ISD), with a history of developing applied, experiential learning solutions for employees (not just theoretical or academic content).
- Proven ability to work effectively with SMEs, project managers, and stakeholders to deliver results under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated expertise in job task analysis and building training that focuses on real-world application and performance.
- Practical understanding of Kirkpatrick Training Evaluation, especially applying levels 1-3 and using system-level thinking at the position level.
- Ability to obtain and pass a background/suitability investigation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in high-consequence, mission-driven environments (Military, DOD, Wildland Fire, or similar).
- Mastery of experiential learning design and adult learning principles.
