About the Position
As an HR Generalist, you will play a critical role in supporting federal benefits, retirement, work-life, and personnel processing programs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with federal HR processes, a knack for accurate record-keeping, and a commitment to providing exceptional service to employees and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
Benefits and Retirement Administration Support
- Support federal benefits, work-life, and retirement programs, including FEHB, FEGLI, TSP, EAP, telework, and related services.
- Promote and support wellness and work-life initiatives.
- Triaging incoming benefits inquiries; direct complex matters to Benefits Specialists.
- Support open-season activities, informational seminars, and workforce engagement events.
- Provide basic benefits counseling to employees (informational guidance only).
- Review and process FEHB, FEGLI, TSP, and related benefit forms.
- Communicate with OPM, DFAS, insurance carriers, payroll providers, and other agencies as needed.
- Request military service documentation and provide deposit/redeposit information using calculation tools.
- Calculate redeposit service, FICA, and military deposits.
- Compile and verify employee service histories for retirement purposes.
- Deliver benefits-related briefings during new-hire orientation.
- Maintain and update benefits-related systems (e.g., e-Comp, FHR Navigator, FPPS).
- Maintain accurate and timely records of all benefits activities.
HR Processing and Staffing
- Code and process personnel and payroll actions in FPPS within required timeframes.
- Prepare pre-appointment packages and assist with new-hire in-processing.
- Extend tentative and official job offers as directed.
- Review personnel and payroll forms for accuracy and completeness.
- Request, upload, and maintain eOPF records; convert paper files to electronic records.
- Audit personnel records for accuracy and policy compliance.
- Process leave transfers for incoming and current employees.
- Provide customer service regarding HR systems, processes, and procedures.
- Identify and correct HR processing errors.
- Track commemorative awards and maintain award-related files and logs.
- Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation.
- Respond promptly to employee and management inquiries.
- Maintain complete documentation of all HR processing activities.
General Expectations and Operational Requirements
- Deliver high-quality, accurate, and timely support across all assigned duties.
- Adhere to applicable federal regulations, agency policies, and privacy/PII requirements.
- Provide courteous, professional customer service to employees, managers, and stakeholders.
- Maintain organized, complete, and audit-ready documentation for all activities.
- Collaborate effectively with B&B and government client HR teams; escalate complex issues appropriately.
- Be flexible in shifting between benefits and HR processing work based on workload demand.
- Utilize government systems, tools, and templates in accordance with guidance provided.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma (required).
- At least 3 years’ relevant experience in federal HR processing or benefits administration.
- Demonstrated ability to process forms, maintain records, calculate retirement service, and use FPPS and related benefits systems.
- Experience working on-site in a professional office environment.
- Ability to deliver professional, courteous customer service in person, by phone, and via email.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Must meet all eligibility requirements to work for B&B and our government client, including any required background checks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience supporting federal benefits programs (FEHB, FEGLI, TSP, etc.).
- Familiarity with government HR and benefits systems (FPPS, eOPF, e-Comp, FHR Navigator).
- Experience delivering presentations or briefings to groups.
