This position will provide quality engineering and technical support to design and production, in the application of quality assurance tools, techniques, and processes. Lead breakthrough projects and continuous improvement initiatives leading to the elimination of defects and waste.
This position has the potential for significant and measurable impact on profitability, customer satisfaction, productivity, and failure costs for its supported business units, and assumes significant responsibility for leading targeted efforts to reduce the total cost of quality and specifically, the cost of nonconformance.
Responsibilities:
Formulate quality assurance strategies
Design, install, and evaluate process control and improvement systems, tools, and statistical techniques.
Initiate / coordinate tools and processes to manage quality information and the generation of summarized and conclusive reports and action plans
Execute improvement projects to achieve breakthrough results in various areas of the business, including product design, manufacturing, operations, applications, transactional, and business process management
Provide training, consulting, and mentoring to team members in the development of quality improvement skills and the application of statistical tools appropriately across the organization
Coordinate the deployment and integration of targeted changes across identified work populations
Perform internal and external (supplier) product, process, and quality system audits. Report findings and corrective action requirements and conduct follow-up to ensure appropriate responses and follow-through
Support the advancement of business excellence initiatives, including support of corporation-wide ISO compliance and the deployment of targeted tools and practices. Collect, organize, monitor, and distribute information related to process management and improvement functions, including documentation of quality management standards
Study, investigate, and recommend new technologies, methods, tools, and procedures in the areas of process improvement, defect and waste elimination, change management, and operational excellence
Provide advance quality planning support in the development and launch of new products, processes, and services and the evaluation and selection of new technologies, suppliers, and product-related services
Qualifications:
Skills and experience generally associated with the attainment of a 4-year Degree in engineering, technology, or other related fields
A minimum of 2 years experience in quality assurance is preferred
Knowledge of statistical quality assurance and continuous improvement processes, tools, and applications
Specialized training or certification in one or more of the following preferred:
Statistical Process Control
Six Sigma
Lean Manufacturing (Toyota Manufacturing Systems)
ISO 9000
Technical / engineering, project coordination, communications, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
