Responsibilities:

The Robotics Technician I will be responsible for repairing various robotic equipment by utilizing prints and wiring diagrams, completing and submitting shop repair orders, rework, and miscellaneous sheets to update individual utilization reports on a daily basis or as required, and maintain inventory levels of repair stock (e.g. bearings, seals, gears, etc.). The Robotics Technician will also be responsible for fielding calls from crews to support robotic or equipment repairs

Primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Works with Level 3 technician to mechanically and electronically repair robotic equipment. Will train with Level 3 and eventually be able to work unassisted.
  • Assists in diagnosing cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and performs preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Assists with supporting field crews in troubleshooting issues with robotics and equipment.
  • Completes and submits shop repair orders, rework, and miscellaneous sheets to update individual utilization reports daily.
  • Communicates the work schedule to the customer as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Education and/or Experience: A High School diploma or GED is required. A diploma from a technical school in robotics or electronics OR one year of hands-on experience in electronics and electrical troubleshooting is required. Must possess a working knowledge of electrical repair methods and equipment to include: soldering equipment, electrical meters, power supplies. Other equipment knowledge will include: milling and drilling machines, metal lathe, sanders/grinders, power punch press, and various power hand tools, drills, etc. Skilled with lathes, grinders, drill presses, and some welding. Requires basic computer skills in Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, interpret, understand and follow electrical wiring diagrams and schematics, blueprints and fabrication drawings. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to listen and comprehend instructions accurately.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Knowledge of the metric system is required.

  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Must be able to use independent judgment and initiative to complete projects on a timely and safe basis.

Physical Demands:

In the performance of duties for this position, the employee is: regularly required to sit, talk, and hear without visual controls; frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, grip, or feel objects, tools or controls, repetitive motion, required to walk, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, stretch, push, pull, reach with hands and arms, climb ladders, steps and narrow passages, walk uneven surfaces and wear appropriate personal protective equipment; balance, and taste or smell; regularly lift, push, pull and move up to 80 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include: close, distance, peripheral, and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability for extended concentration.

Work Environment:

In performing the duties for this job, the employee will generally work in a shop environment (with moving vehicles and mechanical operations). Will be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is usually moderate.
