Instructional Coach

Office of Instruction and Federal Programs


Job Summary

The Instructional Coach in Aztec Municipal School District (AMSD) is a non-evaluative, collaborative leader who supports teachers in strengthening instructional practices to improve student achievement. This position focuses on building teacher capacity through job-embedded coaching, data analysis, and professional learning aligned to district priorities, New Mexico
standards, and school improvement goals.


Reports To
: Associate Superintendent of Instruction and the Director of Federal Programs


Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of a New Mexico Level II or III Teaching License
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education (Master's Preferred)
  • 3-5 years of successful teaching experience
  • Knowledge of the New Mexico Standards K-12
  • Instructional coaching or leadership experience preferred
  • Knowledge of needs of students requiring additional support
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and implement content and instructional strategies for teaching
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form
  • Ability to communicate effectively in large and small group settings
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, colleagues, parents, and students

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with teachers in a non-evaluative coaching role to plan, implement, and refine effective,
    research-based instructional strategies.
  • Conduct instructional coaching cycles including goal setting, classroom observation, modeling,
    co-teaching, and reflective feedback.
  • Support teachers in analyzing student data to drive instructional decisions.
  • Facilitate professional development aligned with AMSD strategic goals and state standards.
  • Assist with implementation of district-adopted curriculum and instructional frameworks.
  • Model high-quality instruction and support differentiation,
  • Support new teachers and provide targeted coaching support.
  • Collaborate with principals to align coaching work with school improvement plans.
  • Promote culturally responsive teaching practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality and build professional relationships.


Other Duties

  • Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings and other professional activities.
  • Participates as a member of the school instructional team in various student and parent activities which occur in school
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Certificates, Licenses

Must possess or be eligible to obtain a valid New Mexico driver’s license.


Terms of Employment

Salary and work year per the Aztec School District approved Teacher Salary Schedule and the Aztec School District Calendar.


Evaluation

Performance of duty will be evaluated at least annually in accordance with Aztec School Board Policy.


Physical Rating Level

This position will require the employee to function at a “Medium” physical capacity as defined by Worker’s Compensation Statutes. “Medium” physical capacity indicates the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally or up to 25 pounds frequently.
