Role Description The Grain Merchandiser is a full-time, on-site role based in Jefferson, WI. This position is responsible for purchasing grain from producers and commercial partners, managing daily grain bids, and monitoring market conditions to support profitable trading decisions. The Grain Merchandiser will build and maintain relationships with farmers, elevators, and brokers, while providing timely information on pricing, contracts, and delivery options. Day-to-day tasks include tracking futures and basis levels, entering and confirming grain contracts, coordinating logistics with operations, and resolving any delivery or quality issues. - Retail or front-line commercial experience that demonstrates comfort working directly with customers and handling transactions.
- Basic understanding of grain markets, commodities, or agriculture, with willingness to deepen expertise in merchandising and risk management.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and business software (e.g., Excel, ERP or merchandising systems) and strong numerical aptitude.
- Ability to work on-site in Jefferson, WI, with reliable transportation and readiness for occasional extended hours during peak seasons.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-moving market environment.
- Preferred: Experience in grain merchandising, elevator operations, commodity trading, or related agricultural business.
