Portfolio Accountant – Self Storage Focus
About us
Azose Commercial Properties is a property management company serving the community since 1965. We are currently looking for a portfolio accountant to handle the accounting and bookkeeping functions for ~15 self-storage facilities. Approximately 50% of the service provided by the company is accounting-related, therefore, it is important to provide timely and accurate financial statements.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
· Maintain positive working relationship with the storage facility managers in handling day-to-day operations of our managed and owned properties
· Accounts Payable: processing property number, G/L account code on invoice, and description – daily in accordance with schedule
· Timely payment (avoidance of penalties) of mortgages/real estate taxes/assessments
· Accounts Receivable: posting rent to tenant ledgers, rent deposits within 24 hours of receipt, advise manager of delinquent tenants, send billing notices, provide PM Assist with information to prepare 3-day notices.
· Professional communication with tenants and owners as necessary
· Cash Management: ensure that cash balances are accurate, advise manager of cash shortage as soon as possible
· Prepare accurate month-end financial statements. Review and approve financial statements before preparing final statement
· Handle accounting-related calls from tenants; treat all tenants courteously
· Promote teamwork: assist property manager with property-related issues; work with members of the accounting department in accomplishing job responsibilities
· Maintain property records
· Monitor cash flow and bank balances for properties
· Assist CPAs at year end with the final Y/E financial packages and any other related Y/E questions/requests
ACCOUNTABILITY: Reports to the Controller
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
· 4 years accounting and bookkeeping experience.
· Strong understanding of accounting concepts
· Proficient in the use of Excel and Word
· Analytical and problem-solving skills
· High attention to detail
· Strong documentation and audit-readiness discipline
· Effective communication skills
· Team player with excellent customer service skills
BENEFITS: Two weeks paid vacation; three weeks after 5 years; medical and dental insurance; 401k plan.
WORK SCHEDULE: Full Time, in-person while training, with the option for hybrid work (part in-person, part remote) once training is completed.
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35.0 – 45.0 per week
