Responsible for ensuring effective implementation of the AZCO Quality Assurance program within the Fabrication Division. Responsible for managing the quality processes and procedures within the AZCO Fabrication Division. Develop, refine, and implement procedures and methods to assure compliance with design codes, contractual requirements, project specifications and jurisdictional requirements.
- Responsible for developing welding procedures in accordance with the governing code of construction.
- Monitoring the inspection implementation process, method, and procedures to ensure that final product complies with applicable codes, contractual requirements, and project specifications.
- Serve as the Quality point of contact for all fabrication client representatives.
- Work with and interpret a wide variety of construction, fabrication and jurisdictional mandated administrative codes, specifications, addenda, and customer requirements.
- Monitor project documentation progress, accuracy, and completeness.
- Evaluate staff resources and competencies and manage the overall department resource needs to support the company’s vision for fabrication.
- Measure and assess the effectiveness of the AZCO Quality Assurance Program within the Fabrication Division by compiling and evaluating statistical data to maintain quality of products and services offered within the division.
- Develop and implement corrective actions for division deficiencies.
- Monitor the AZCO Non-Conformance program within the division.
- Recognize and correct ongoing or upcoming trends.
- Develop quality related procedures to support fabrication such as pre and post weld heat treatment, hardness testing, PMI, etc. to meet code and client requirements.
- Oversee the development of training programs for current and future staffing to attain and maintain appropriate levels of certification for inspection services.
- Educate fabrication employees as it relates to quality while communicating and building relationships with all levels within the organization.
- Review, approve, and select NDE subcontractors for quality actions and functions such as radiography, hardness testing, heat treating, etc.
- Maintain required NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) certifications for testing and inspection methods.
- Work with aggressive scheduled and unscheduled high priority QA/QC projects.
- Establish audits to identify and support best practices and ensure quality control measures are met.
- Manage the quality audit process within the fabrication division, including inspectors, documentation, welder, equipment, management, etc.
- Manage the quality documentation turnover process for fabrication projects.
- Assist with the maintenance and renewal of the AZCO ASME Certificates of Authorization.
- Collaborate with the Quality department on new and innovative solutions to existing and potential problems.
- Responsible for the recruitment, development, training, and retention of staff.
- Responsible for conducting performance evaluations for department staff.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the department.
- Responsible for interpreting the organization's policies, purposes, and goals to staff.
- Responsible for overall QA/QC process adherence.
- Enforce compliance with company and site safety policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Welding Technology, Nondestructive Examination, or related field and 7 years' experience in implementing and maintaining the quality program required.
- Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- Expert knowledge in Microsoft Office suite.
- Previous experience with welder testing and qualification in accordance with applicable codes required.
- Background and knowledge in level II in MT and PT certifications, as well as NDE processes for particle and liquid penetrant.
- Ability to read and understand isometrics, P&IDs, orthographic drawings, etc.
- Familiar with the following welding procedures: Gas Metal (GMAW), Shielded Metal (SMAW), Fluxed Core (FCAW), SMAW, Gas Tungsten (GTAW), and Submerged (SAW).
- Shop experience in on-site inspections and field repair alterations.
- Current AWS CWI certification or discipline specific certification required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be detailed oriented.
