Duties
- Clean, sterilise, and assemble surgical instruments and medical equipment in accordance with established protocols.
- Inspect instruments for damage or wear, ensuring all items meet safety standards before use.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilisation cycles and equipment maintenance.
- Operate specialised sterilisation machinery such as autoclaves and washer-disinfectors.
- Prepare instrument trays for surgical procedures, ensuring completeness and proper packaging.
- Follow strict infection control procedures to prevent contamination.
- Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation and ordering supplies as needed.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times, reporting any hazards or issues promptly.
Skills
- Previous laboratory or sterile processing experience is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in English, with excellent communication skills for effective teamwork and documentation.
- Basic IT skills for record keeping and utilisation of sterilisation equipment management systems.
- Knowledge of biochemistry principles related to sterilisation processes is advantageous.
- Ability to operate specialised sterilisation machinery safely and effectively.
- Valid driving licence is a plus for transportation purposes within hospital premises or between facilities.
