Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate OB/GYN Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. This vital role involves providing specialized nursing care to women throughout their reproductive health journey, including prenatal, labor, delivery, postpartum, and gynecological care. Responsibilities

• Assist with obstetric procedures such as fetal monitoring, labor support, and delivery assistance while maintaining strict aseptic techniques.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner.
• Administer medications and injections accurately, including pain management protocols and hormone therapies related to gynecological treatments.
• Support patients through various stages of pregnancy, including education on prenatal care, childbirth classes, and postpartum recovery.
• Perform specialized procedures such as suturing during deliveries or surgeries, catheterization, IV infusion therapy, and specimen collection for laboratory testing.
• Monitor fetal heart rates using sonography or cardiotocography (CT), ensuring fetal well-being during labor.
• Educate patients on family planning options, contraceptive methods including dermal fillers or other esthetic laser treatments when appropriate.
• Manage acute pain cases effectively while adhering to infection control standards and HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in hospital settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or teaching hospitals to provide comprehensive care across emergency medicine, ICU, neonatal intensive care (NICU), or surgical units.
• Support discharge planning by providing patient education on post-operative care, medication management, and follow-up appointments.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation including ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding for procedures performed, and detailed nursing records aligned with NCQA standards.

Qualifications

• Valid nursing license with current OB/GYN or women's health certification preferred; active BLS certification required.
• Proven experience in obstetrics and gynecology nursing within hospital environments or outpatient clinics.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks is advantageous.
• Strong clinical skills including suturing, catheterization (including Foley catheters), phlebotomy, IV insertion/infusion techniques, and sterile processing procedures.
• Knowledge of physiology related to pregnancy and reproductive health; ability to perform physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations confidently.
• Experience working with diverse patient populations including those with developmental disabilities or in memory care settings is a plus.
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations in emergency room or trauma center environments; ICU experience is highly valued.
• Excellent communication skills for triage assessments and patient education across pediatric to geriatric age groups.
• Familiarity with infectious disease protocols, infection control practices, and OSHA standards to ensure a safe clinical environment.
• Additional skills such as ultrasound imaging (sonography), laboratory specimen processing, or advanced pain management techniques will enhance your candidacy.
