What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician position at AZ Vet Direct?
We are a small surgery and vaccines only clinic. We typically perform 10-20 procedures in a day ranging from spays, neuters, dental cleanings, mass removals, enucleations, amputations, cherry eye repair, etc. We have parking partners in Queen Creek/San Tan Valley, Mesa, Casa Grande, Maricopa and we just opened a Brick & Mortar in Mesa. Reliable transportation is important as we do travel to a different location daily.
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures.
- Safely restrain animals for exams, treatments, and diagnostic tests.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as collecting blood
- Operate and maintain an autoclave, centrifuge and ultra sonic machine
- Monitor anesthesia and patient vital signs during surgical procedures.
- Provide wound care, bandaging, and post-operative nursing.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in accordance with practice protocols.
- Educate pet owners on post surgical care.
- Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, and work areas to maintain a sanitary environment.
- Handle and care for animals in a safe, compassionate, and professional manner.
Proficiency in the above skills is required. Licensure as a LVT/CVT is not required.

- Minimum 1–2 years of clinical veterinary experience preferred.
- Proficiency in animal handling, medical terminology, and veterinary procedures.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift and restrain animals of varying sizes and temperaments.
Work Environment
- Require standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and exposure to animals, allergens, and zoonotic diseases.
- Schedule may include over time as needed. We are open 8am-4pm but do not leave until all surgeries are completed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
