We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Cook to join our team at Everlasting Services, a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) assisted living facility committed to providing exceptional care and services. In this role, you will create nutritious and enjoyable meals while fostering a warm, respectful, and supportive dining environment for our residents.

The Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and overseeing all food service operations, including safe food handling, proper sanitation, and compliance with state and federal regulations. This role is essential in ensuring residents receive high-quality meals that support their health and well-being.

Prepare well-balanced, nutritious, and appealing meals for residents.

Follow the safe and efficient operation of the culinary kitchen area.

Follow approved menus that meet nutritional standards consistent with facility regulations, policies, and procedures.

Ensure kitchen activities conform to policy and procedures and with State and local health department sanitation requirements.

Ensure that the culinary area meets State and local health department sanitation requirements. Practice safe food handling.

Transport food, meals, and other supplies for activity events.

Manage food storage, proper refrigeration, and inventory control.

Notify the kitchen manager of equipment needs.

Qualification Requirements: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   1. Must show proof of freedom from TB before client contact.
  2. Provide and maintain a current Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  3. Provide and maintain a current certification in First Aid and CPR.
  4. Provide and maintain current Food Handlers Certification.
  5. Possess and maintain a valid AZ Driver's License and have reliable transportation.
  6. Clear a criminal background, credit check, and motor vehicle screening
  7. Clear the Department of Economic Security, Department of Aging and Adult Services Central Registry Background Check
  8. If driving is one of the essential duties & responsibilities, maintain a valid AZ driver's license, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation throughout the duration of employment.

Education and/or Experience: 

•Good interpersonal skills 

•Six months’ experience working in the kitchen environment 

•Ability to solve problems and make decisions 

 

Language Skills: 

Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Ability to listen and perceive needs, working with people from diverse backgrounds non-judgmentally. 

 

Reasoning Ability: 


The Cook must possess a deep understanding of safety and hygiene standards and regulations to ensure compliance with the state and local health department requirements. Knowledge of industrial kitchen tools and equipment, as well as various cooking methods and techniques, is essential for preparing meals efficiently and safely. The ability to accommodate nutrition and special dietary requirements is key to providing well-balanced, nutritious meals for all participants.  

Additionally, expertise in volume preparation, portion control, and food preservation is critical for maintaining food quality and reducing waste. The Cook must also be skilled in using an inventory control system to manage food stock and supplies effectively. This role requires a team player who demonstrates excellent listening and empathetic skills, is highly organized, and can manage multiple tasks at once

•Must have flexibility in working hours, including the willingness to work weekends and holidays as they coincide with regular shift
