Become a part of a nationally recognized USA Today Top Workplace! Our commitment to working together and improving our lives rings true, and we are proud to grow our team with driven and valued individuals. Join us today and contribute to a culture of excellence and innovation.

On any given day, you’ll:

  • Work with a team of water resources professionals to complete hydrologic and hydraulic analyses that meet standards set by state and federal authorities.  Examples of work include collecting field data (watershed evaluations, site visits), collecting online data (LiDAR, aerials, existing floodplain models), collaborating (working with teammates), analyzing (numerical models, spreadsheets), documenting (reports, maps, drawings), and presenting conclusions orally.
  • Track progress of your tasks to confirm work meets contract requirements, deliverables are on schedule, results are reviewed for quality assurance, and reports/documentation conform with Ayres’ quality standards.
  • Build and maintain respectful working relationships with Project Managers and Ayres leadership.
  • Participate in a mentorship environment with senior engineers

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in civil/hydraulic/hydrologic engineering from an accredited university is the minimum requirement.  A master’s degree in engineering with emphasis on H&H is preferred.
  • Successfully pass the fundamentals of engineering test (EIT) prior to starting employment at Ayres.
  • Classes that focused on open channel flow, rainfall-runoff processes, and statistical hydrology.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Familiar with ArcGIS and online sources of aerials and topography data.
  • Proven communication skills including great client relationships and a willingness to market services to internal and external clients.
  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Desired Skills and Experiences:

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD/Revit, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, MathCAD, Bentley Storm/Sewer GEMS, or equivalent programs.
  • Examples of good work ethic, team participation, and public speaking.
  • Willingness to be located within commuting distance of Ayres’ Eau Claire WI (preferred) or Roseville MN office.  Ayres offers flexible work schedules, but we believe mentorship exchanges and peer-to-peer learning happens best in person.  More variability in work location (hybrid) is given to staff who prove their ability to independently manage time and produce high quality results.

Benefits of being part of the Ayres team:

  • Health, dental, and vision Insurance.
  • Short and long-term disability and life insurance.
  • Employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) and 401K with company match.
  • PTO upon hire, paid holidays including two floating holidays, and a flexible work schedule.
  • Professional development opportunities.
