Position Summary:
We are looking for a warm, dependable, and hands-on, Assistant Teacher to support our home daycare serving infants through grade school 6 weeks to 12 years old. The Assistant Teacher will help provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that promotes early learning, emotional development, and physical well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the daily care of infants and young children, including diapering, feeding, bottle preparation, burping, and soothing.
- Support toddler and preschool routines including meals, potty training, naps, and structured activities.
- Engage children in age-appropriate play, sensory exploration, music, art, and early learning experiences.
- Supervise indoor and outdoor play while ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized daycare space, including sanitizing toys and surfaces regularly.
- Assist in preparing and serving snacks and meals according to age-appropriate guidelines.
- Observe children’s development and report concerns or milestones to the lead provider.
- Help foster a warm and responsive relationship with each child and their family.
- Follow all state and local licensing requirements and daycare policies.
- Be a reliable and supportive team member to the lead provider and other staff.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Previous experience with infants to grade school children (preferred)
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical caregiving tasks.
- Clear background check and compliance with OCFS requirements for a Group Family Daycare.
- Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and love for working with young children

- Familiarity with child development practices and early learning activities
- Patience, flexibility, and calm under pressure
- Willingness to learn and adapt to the daycare’s philosophy and daily routine
