We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Reality Capture Specialist to join our growing team of BIM professionals based in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area . This role is central to our data acquisition efforts, supporting projects with precise 3D laser scanning, point cloud processing and surveying projects. You'll play a key role in capturing and registering spatial data that informs BIM modeling, design validation, and as-built documentation.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Reality Capture Specialist to join our growing team of BIM professionals based in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area . This role is central to our data acquisition efforts, supporting projects with precise 3D laser scanning, point cloud processing and surveying projects. You'll play a key role in capturing and registering spatial data that informs BIM modeling, design validation, and as-built documentation.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform 3D laser scanning in diverse field environments (e.g., offices, utility spaces, exterior campus sites).
- Register and process point cloud data using Leica Cyclone and NavVis Ivion.
- Conduct control surveys, topographic surveys, and existing conditions surveys using a variety of field procedures and technologies.
- Coordinate fieldwork with internal teams and project stakeholders to ensure accuracy and schedule alignment.
- Manage data organization and quality control throughout the scanning and registration process.
- Support project deliverables through integration of scan data into design platforms.
- Maintain equipment and follow established field procedures to ensure consistent results.
- Travel locally as needed to access scanning sites.
Required:
- Associate degree or higher in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, Architecture, or a related technical field OR equivalent technical training through a certified trade school, military training, or on-the-job experience in laser scanning or surveying.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with terrestrial laser scanning and point cloud registration.
- Proficiency in Leica Cyclone.
- Strong understanding of field-to-office workflows and data QA/QC practices.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with technical teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with Revit and AutoCAD for integration of point cloud data.
- Background in A/E/C environments and familiarity with BIM processes.
- Completion of manufacturer-certified training (e.g., Leica, NavVis) in laser scanning equipment or point cloud processing.
