About the Role
Ayars & Ayars Inc., a Design-Build General Contractor specializing in commercial construction, is seeking a Special Projects Project Manager / Estimator to support our growing operations in the Omaha markets.
This is a dynamic, dual-role position offering flexibility to align with the strengths of the selected candidate. The primary focus is developing and managing project opportunities—both with existing clients and new business prospects—while leading and supporting our Special Projects team.
Our Special Projects group handles a wide range of renovation and new construction work for commercial and industrial clients. Many projects are performed in active environments or during shutdowns, requiring thoughtful planning and strong coordination. This team plays a critical role as a primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors and internal team members, often leading to larger-scale construction opportunities. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, small-team environment and is comfortable wearing multiple hats.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage project estimates and proposals
- Build relationships with existing clients and pursue new business opportunities
- Lead and collaborate with Special Projects field teams
- Plan and coordinate project schedules, crews, and resources
- Order materials and manage project logistics
- Conduct client meetings and site visits
- Oversee project execution from concept through completion
- Assist with invoicing, job costing, and account follow-up
- Support marketing and business development efforts
Weekly Activities
- Planning and adjusting project schedules
- Meeting with clients and identifying upcoming opportunities
- Preparing and submitting project proposals
- Coordinating with field teams and subcontractors
Qualifications
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Experience in estimating, scheduling, and project coordination
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel within the Lincoln/Omaha area
Preferred Experience
- Minimum of 5 years in construction, building maintenance, or related field
- Working knowledge of:
- Masonry
- Concrete forming and finishing
- Carpentry
- Basic accounting and job costing knowledge
- CAD and/or surveying experience (a plus, not required)
