Aya Healthcare has an opportunity for an experienced Patient Access Specialist to support a 13-week contract with a dynamic healthcare facility in Portland, OR.

Assignment Details
- Start: Middle of April
- Schedule: Mon–Fri, 7:30am–4:00pm
- Pay: $21–$24/hr
- Length: 13 weeks
- Onboarding: 1-2 weeks
Requirements for Patient Access Specialist:
- 1 year of recent experience working in an outpatient clinic or medical office setting
- 2 years of patient services experience
- Familiarity with patient registration processes
- Experience with patient referrals / authorizations
- Prior experience verifying insurances / benefits plans
Responsibilities of Patient Access Specialist:
- Gathers and records required patient information
- Confirming health insurance coverage
- Determining patient financial responsibility
- Verifying required authorizations for care, Physician office visits, Cancer treatment sessions, and Ancillary services
- Assists patients in office/practice settings
- Communicates referral requirements based on diagnosis and services
- Scheduling appointments
- Transferring calls
- Triaging to clinical teams
- Explains detailed and complex procedures to patients
- Addresses patient questions and concerns within scope
- Coordinates appointments with other medical/surgical clinics
- Manages rescheduling and waitlists as needed
- Prepares and sends new patient information packets (mail, fax, email)
- Directs patients to appropriate providers for additional healthcare needs
- Accurately enters patient data into the electronic medical record (EMR) system
