Location: Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) – Albuquerque, NM
UNM Hospital (UNMH) is the designated healthcare provider for the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
We are currently hiring Registered Nurses for correctional healthcare roles with both DAY and NIGHT shifts available.
Compensation Highlights:
- Base pay: $34.84 – $47.33 per hour
- $6.00 per hour correctional differential (applies to all hours worked)
- Up to $10,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates
The $6.00/hour differential increases total annual earnings by more than $12,000 for full-time nurses.
About the Role:
This position provides direct patient care within a secure correctional healthcare setting while employed by UNM Hospital. Nurses work as part of a structured clinical team delivering essential medical services to an underserved population.

Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care in a correctional healthcare setting
- Conduct assessments and administer medications

Qualifications:
- Active RN license (or ability to obtain NM licensure)
- BLS certification required
- Inpatient, emergency, behavioral health, or correctional experience preferred but not required
