The Estimator is responsible for analyzing requests for quotes (RFQs), engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and technical specifications to develop accurate, competitive cost estimates for aerospace manufacturing projects. Essential Functions
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and manufacturing routes to determine material, labor, tooling, equipment, and processing needs.
- Break down project costs into materials, labor, subcontracted services, overhead, and contingency factors.
- Develop estimates using Excel, ERP systems, and specialized cost-estimating software.
- Collaborate with supply chain to obtain vendor quotes for materials and outside processes.
- Build and maintain internal cost databases and historical archives to improve estimating precision and support continuous improvement.
- Partner with engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing teams to clarify requirements and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Enter RFQ data into ERP systems, prepare bid packages, develop strategic pricing, and support presentation of estimate metrics during management review.
