What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Machinist position at Axis Precision Machine?
Axis Precision Machine is a growing precision machining job shop in Rockford, IL serving customers in aerospace, defense, and industrial markets. We're a younger company building something, and we're looking for people who want to grow with us.
What You'll Do
- Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes
- Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
- Perform in-process inspection using standard measuring equipment (calipers, mics, gauges)
- Maintain tight tolerances on a variety of materials and part types
- Work efficiently in a job shop environment with mixed lot sizes
What We're Looking For
- CNC machining experience preferred; willing to train the right candidate
- Ability to read blueprints and work to close tolerances
- Attention to detail and a quality-first mindset
- Reliable and self-motivated — we're a small team and everyone counts
