What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bevel Operator position at Axis Pipe and Tube Inc?
Brief Overview:
The Beveler Operator faces and bevels pipes prior to inspection
Responsibilities:
· Maintains a supply of carbide tools and tool holders necessary to assure uninterrupted production. Reports to Finishing Supervisor when supplies need replenishing.
· Changes or assists in size changes.
· Notifies crane operator to remove chips from work area and is responsible for maintaining housekeeping in the beveler area and beveler pit.
· Responsible for completing any assignments given by supervisor, even those assignments not specifically listed in this job description.
· Prepares beveler for facing by setting tools to provide a bevel and face consistent with API and/or customer specification.
· Receives pipe from conveyor and operates equipment to move pipe into the beveler. · Observes and inspects the face and bevel end after facing to assure that the pipe has been machined to specification.
· Performs repairs to machinery and equipment and keeps machinery lubricated.
· Reports maintenance problems to the Finishing Supervisor and Maintenance.
· Responsible for completing any assignments given by Supervisor, even those assignments not specifically listed in this job description
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma, OR Equivalency Certificate, (GED (General Education Degree), etc.)
· One to three months equivalent experience in related field OR, Proof of training in an area related to the job assignment
· Reasonable knowledge in hand-held measuring devices, micrometers, measuring tapes, go/no-go gauges, grinding, operation of thickness gauges and depth gauges
· Moderate to Advanced PC Skills in Microsoft Applications, i.e., MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
· Able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to follow job and safety requirements.
Physical Requirements:
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk; use hands to fingers, hands to feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
· The employee frequently is required to climb, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
· The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
