Behavioral Health Technician - Walk in Crisis - Regional Crisis Center - Durango, CO 

*Active BLS, a current TB result and proof of Flu vaccination (October-March) WILL BE REQUIRED in order to attend New Employee Orientation.  If you are the successful candidate, further information regarding these requirements will be available during the interview and onboarding process.

Position Summary: The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients, staff, and all others contacting the clinic for assistance. Duties include working as part of a team to deliver quality patient care by assisting patients and clinical staff with documentation support, ensuring video and technology is functioning for telehealth appointments, escorting patients to and from appointments, and completion of administrative tasks that support the work of the behavioral health providers.     

Our ideal candidate for our Behavioral Health Technician position will have a high school diploma or equivalent.  A bachelor’s degree medical and mental health fields are preferred.

Salary:  Starting pay is $20.00 (Based pay $17.50 $2.50 Locale Differential = $20.00) and ranges up to $22.60 per hour, which includes a $2.50 locale differential at our Durango worksites and considers preferred experience and preferred education described.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands: 

• Employees must occasionally lift and/or move 15 to 50 pounds.  Employees are frequently required to walk, sit, stand, or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop.  Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time at a computer.   

• Employees must be able to travel between Axis locations. Depending on the position, employees may also be expected to engage in occasional statewide and domestic travel.    

• Working in a healthcare organization lends itself to the possibility of exposure to communicable disease.   

• Noise level in the working environment is usually moderate.  

• Annual Flu immunization by November 1, annual TB Screening, complete de-escalation training, and BLS certification, as required for position.

Required Skills:

• Knowledge and ability to operate standard office equipment including scanner, computer, calculator, copy machine, fax and multi-line telephone.   

• Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and ability to access the internet.   

• Ability to be helpful and sensitive to the needs of all employees, while concurrently respecting corporate policies, procedures and priorities.  

• Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers.  

• Ability to communicate job-related information to individuals and small groups.  

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; plan your own work schedule effectively and multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced setting.  

• Ability to read and understand written materials.  

• Must regard working as confidential.  

• Must have a current driver’s license, qualify for commercial vehicle insurance and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with Axis' insurance agency.  

• Occasional travel is required.  

• Ability to take on additional duties when necessary.
