What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fitness & Performance Consultant position at Axis Fitness + Training?
Job description:
AXIS | The Center of Human PerformanceHelp People Become the Strongest Version of Themselves.
At AXIS, we believe fitness is about more than workouts—it’s about building healthier, stronger, more capable people.
We’re looking for a Fitness & Performance Consultant who is passionate about health, competitive, driven by results, and great at connecting with people.
This is a sales and relationship-driven position. You’ll be responsible for connecting with prospective athletes, understanding their goals, following up consistently, conducting consultations, and helping them choose the AXIS membership or coaching solution that best fits their needs.
You’ll be the first impression of AXIS and play a major role in both the growth of our company and the success of the people we serve.
Interested in Leadership?
AXIS is growing.
Candidates with proven experience in sales leadership, team development, KPI management, and coaching sales performance may also be considered for an accelerated leadership path within our sales team.
We’re looking for people who can produce individually—and, for the right candidate, help develop others to do the same.
What You’ll Do
- Connect with new and existing leads through phone calls, text, email, and in-person conversations.
- Consistently prospect, follow up, and nurture leads.
- Book consultations, assessments, workouts, and onboarding appointments.
- Conduct goal-setting consultations and uncover what prospective athletes truly need.
- Present memberships and coaching options confidently and ask for the commitment.
- Follow up with prospects who aren't ready to make a decision immediately.
- Re-engage old leads, missed appointments, and previous prospects.
- Maintain accurate lead tracking and CRM activity.
- Work toward measurable daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals and KPIs.
- Process memberships, billing, and account updates.
- Support community events and local lead-generation opportunities.
- Work closely with our coaching team to create a seamless transition from consultation to coaching.
- Help create an exceptional experience for every person who walks through our doors.
Who You Are
- Competitive and motivated by achieving goals.
- Passionate about health, fitness, and helping people.
- Comfortable picking up the phone and starting conversations.
- Persistent without being pushy.
- Confident asking questions and asking for commitment.
- Comfortable being measured against performance goals.
- Positive, energetic, and professional.
- Highly coachable and open to direct feedback.
- Organized and able to manage consistent follow-up.
- Able to build trust quickly.
- Someone who takes ownership instead of waiting to be told what to do.
- Excited to be part of a growing company and develop into greater responsibility.
Sales Leadership Candidates
If you have previous leadership experience, we’d especially like to hear from you.
Our ideal leadership-track candidate has experience:
- Leading or developing a sales team.
- Managing sales activity and KPIs.
- Coaching underperforming team members.
- Improving appointment, show, close, or conversion rates.
- Holding people accountable to activity and performance expectations.
- Personally prospecting and closing business.
- Taking ownership of team revenue goals.
Leadership at AXIS starts with the ability and willingness to produce alongside the team.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following is preferred:
- Sales
- Sales leadership or management
- Fitness or membership sales
- Hospitality
- Customer service
- Lead generation/prospecting
- CRM management
- Health, wellness, or human performance
