Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, taking vital signs, and evaluating dental conditions.
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, treatment plans, and preventive care strategies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical and dental records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Follow strict infection control protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures, to ensure patient safety.
- Review documentation for accuracy, update medical records, and assist with medical coding for billing purposes.
Requirements
- Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations.
- Proven experience in dental office settings with proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and infection control standards.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, medical imaging techniques, vital signs monitoring, and HIPAA compliance.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs effectively in pediatric and general dentistry contexts.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting duties confidently while maintaining a professional demeanor.
