How You Will Make An Impact

  • Lead the design and integration of mechanical cooling loop systems involving chillers, dry coolers, thermal storage, pumps, heat exchangers, piping, valves, and control interfaces.
  • Apply system-level thinking to optimize cooling performance, redundancy, energy efficiency, maintainability, and lifecycle reliability.
  • Evaluate tradeoffs between chiller-based cooling, dry cooler operation, thermal storage strategies, and hybrid cooling approaches.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure mechanical thermal systems align with electrical loads, operational requirements, controls strategy, and site constraints.
  • Develop technical requirements, system architecture, design documentation, equipment specifications, and performance models.
  • Support vendor evaluation, design reviews, commissioning planning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of deployed systems.
  • Identify risks in mechanical loop design, including capacity limitations, flow imbalance, thermal transients, pressure drop, equipment sequencing, and failure modes.

Do you have the expertise to lead in mechanical thermal loop design?

  • Proven experience in mechanical engineering, thermal systems, HVAC, industrial cooling, data center cooling, energy storage cooling, or mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of chiller plants, dry coolers, hydronic loops, thermal storage, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, controls, and fluid dynamics.
  • Ability to think at the full system level, not just component-by-component, with a focus on operational reliability and design scalability.
  • Experience developing mechanical system requirements, specifications, P&IDs, sequence-of-operations input, and design review documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills related to heat transfer, pressure drop, flow distribution, capacity planning, energy efficiency, and redundancy strategy.
  • Comfortable working with multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, electrical, controls, commissioning, operations, and vendor partners.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline preferred.
