You must have hands-on aerospace inspection experience in a production environment, including:

  • Reading engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Performing precision measurement and verification to aerospace requirements
  • Completing First Article Inspections (AS9102)
  • Setting up and using a FARO Arm (required)

Applicants without direct aerospace inspection experience and FARO Arm measurement experience will not be considered.

About Axiom Engineering

Axiom Engineering is a Wichita-based aerospace manufacturer producing high-precision CNC machined components and small assemblies for major aerospace and defense customers. We run a clean, disciplined shop where inspection accuracy and documentation discipline matter. If you take pride in correct measurement, clean FAIs, and preventing nonconforming parts from shipping—you’ll fit here.

ITAR / CUI Eligibility Requirement (Required)

Axiom Engineering is ITAR-registered and performs defense-related work. This position requires access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and other export-controlled technical data.

Candidates must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.62):
U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or protected individual (refugee/asylee).
We cannot sponsor work authorization for this role.
Applicants who do not meet ITAR “U.S. Person” eligibility will not be considered.

What You’ll Do

You’ll report to the Inspection Department Supervisor and perform receiving, in-process, and final inspection for precision-machined and assembled aerospace components.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Inspect parts to complex aerospace engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specs
  • Perform dimensional inspection using precision tools:
  • calipers, micrometers, height gages, bore gages, indicators, pin gages, etc.
  • Program/setup and measure parts using a FARO Arm (probing strategies, feature verification, reporting/results)
  • Complete AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAI) accurately and on time
  • Verify incoming materials, certifications, and traceability (receiving inspection)
  • Document nonconformances (NCRs) and support corrective action activities
  • Verify part marking, traceability, and assembly/mechanical verification steps as required
  • Maintain compliance with AS9100 procedures, calibration discipline, and documentation requirements
  • Support continuous improvement and waste reduction aligned with TPS principles

Minimum Qualifications (Must Have)

  • 3 years hands-on aerospace inspection experience (machined and/or assembled components)
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T without assistance
  • Proven experience performing dimensional inspection on tight-tolerance aerospace work
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 expectations and aerospace quality requirements
  • FARO Arm experience (required): capable of setup, measurement, and producing usable inspection results/reporting
  • Strong documentation habits: accurate inspection records, traceability, and verification discipline

Strongly Preferred (Helps You Stand Out)

  • Completed AS9102 FAIs independently (not just assisted)
  • CMM experience in addition to FARO Arm
  • Material verification and cert review experience
  • Prior work in a TPS / continuous-improvement environment
  • High reliability and professional shop conduct
