Position Summary
The Charge Nurse RN/LPN is responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents, coordinating resident care, supervising nursing staff, and ensuring that care is delivered in accordance with established standards, physician orders, and facility policies.
The Charge Nurse serves as a key member of the Wheat State Manor healthcare team and helps ensure effective communication among residents, families, nursing staff, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, professional nursing care to residents in accordance with their individual care plans.
- Assess residents and monitor changes in condition, promptly communicating concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered and in accordance with applicable regulations and facility policies.
- Supervise and provide direction to CNAs and other nursing staff during assigned shifts.
- Ensure resident care is completed accurately, timely, and according to established standards.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and nursing records.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, residents, families, and members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and changes in resident condition.
- Participate in care planning and contribute to the development and implementation of individualized resident care plans.
- Provide leadership and support to nursing staff while promoting teamwork and accountability.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
- Follow all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Wheat State Manor policies and procedures.
- Promote dignity, respect, privacy, and quality of life for every resident.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
