By embracing the unique experiences and perspectives of our people, we fuel creativity and deliver results for our clients.The Firm’s Controller oversees all accounting operations of the firm including, but not limited to, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Tax, Payroll, Partner Compensation administration, Retirement Benefit administration, Client Billing and Collections, Treasury and banking operations, and Regulatory reporting and compliance. Responsibilities and Duties: Continuously monitor, review, and enhance internal controls required for proper book-keeping and recording of business transactions. Set up general ledger codes to accurately capture costs and to assist the firm in its profitability analysis.Manage vendor details, record invoices, ensure tax compliance and pay vendors in a timely basis while keeping an eye on firm cash flow. Ensure timely reimbursement of firm employee expenses and payment to credit card provider.Liaise with outside tax consultant to ensure firm compliance with various payroll; income; and sales and use tax regulations. Stay abreast with changes in regulations impacting firm and its partners and make recommendations for ensuring compliance. Responsible for issuing partner K-1’s and other firm and employee tax filings.Supervise exempt and non-exempt employee payroll including benefits and retirement contributions. Responsible for accurate processing of partner draws.Work in conjunction with the Client Value Manager to ensure accurate client billing rates; invoicing; and timely collections of outstanding receivables. Escalate issues related to overdue balances to appropriate people in the firm for a speedy resolution.Have the overall responsibility of administering banking transactions. Ensure compliance with covenants and associated reporting.Responsible for working with outside accounting firm for audit of firm financials.Lead technology-based solutions implementation for improving accounting processes. Formulate policies and implement procedures for improved internal controls related to accounting functions. Other duties as assigned.Education, Experience, and Skills Required:Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or closely related field required. CPA highly preferred.Direct experience in an accounting role, within a law firm or professional services organization required.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.Effective time management skills, with the ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously and manage multiple projects while prioritizing assignmentsAbility to build rapport with attorneys, professional staff, and vendorsStrong computer skills, including web-based research and proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and various document management tools. Final rate of pay and title will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, with a targeted hiring range of $177,000 - $210,000 for CT, $200,000 - $234,000 for DC and $215,000 - $253,000 for NY (the upper range reserved for highly qualified applicants).
