We are currently looking for a Director, Global Product Management - Mobility Coatings to join us at our facility in either Philadelphia, PA or Troy, MI.
Job Summary: The Director of Product Management is responsible for leading Axalta's Global Mobility coatings platform strategy. This role oversees a team of Global Product Managers (GPMs) and drives cohesive product roadmaps across market segments and resin systems. The Director ensures alignment with global margin and complexity targets and provides directional leadership on platform-level profitability. This role leads global product platform performance by driving improvements in margin, cost, mix, and complexity through roadmap strategy, innovation governance, and lifecycle oversight.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Roadmap Leadership
- Lead the development and integration of global product roadmaps across mobility segments (LV, CV, APC) and coating layers (basecoat, clearcoat, primer, e-coat)
- Align roadmaps with resin systems, market demands, and sustainability targets
- Govern platform transitions and generation planning
- Guide portfolio prioritization and innovation resource allocation across New Product Platforms (NPP) initiatives
- Facilitate business case development for new initiatives with GPMs and regional leadership
- Rank and recommend projects based on value and strategic fit
- Influence regional execution through global platform economics: margin, complexity, volume, cost
- Drive resin rationalization, platform simplification, and phased sunsetting of legacy systems
- Define global platform strategies in partnership with technical and operations teams
- Manage and develop GPMs, ensuring strong road mapping, stakeholder engagement, and business case acumen
- Partner with R&D, operations, marketing, and commercial leaders to ensure execution feasibility and platform ROI
- Represent product platforms in quarterly innovation investment reviews and business leadership meetings
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Business, or related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum 10 years of experience in product/platform management or innovation leadership roles
- Strong understanding of resin systems, coatings platforms, and mobility market segmentation
- Proven ability to lead global cross-functional teams and influence without direct P&L control
- Experience managing innovation investment processes and Stage-Gate governance
- Excellent analytical, communication, and strategic planning skills
- Travel: approx. 30% global travel required to support regional alignment, gate reviews, and roadmap execution.
