Overview
This is a full-time position, reporting to the Controller in the Business Office. The School Store Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of the Awty School Store, which sells books and supplies to the 1700 students of this premier international school. The School Store also sells apparel and gift merchandise to foster and promote school spirit throughout our community.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the purchasing of books and supplies for the school from publishers and distributors around the world, including the United States, France, Spain, Mexico, Australia and Egypt
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to determine purchasing needs
- Maintain a digital inventory/POS system and manage inventory levels
- Responsible for the layout/display of merchandise in the store and promoting the merchandise to our faculty, staff, and student community
- Implement and maintain an online store to complement the sales activity from the physical store location on campus
- Manage the annual budget for the School Store and interface with the Business Office to maintain accurate accounting records
- Manage a team consisting of one full-time and one part-time staff
Minimum Requirements and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work related experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Well organized and detail oriented
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Competency with Microsoft Suite and database experience
Ideal Candidate:
- Three years retail management experience involving all aspects of the operations, including marketing, purchasing, inventory management, POS systems, and budgeting
- Strong negotiating skills and experience managing vendor relations
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Experience in an international or independent school environment
- Bilingual speaker of English and French preferred
