What are the responsibilities and job description for the A FUTURE Preschool or ELC Faculty Position position at AWTY International School?

All teachers at The Awty International School share responsibility for the quality of teaching and learning in the school. The status of the teacher as a professional with high order knowledge in the discipline(s) taught underpins the duties of the position. Teachers at Awty are required to be highly professional people who should indicate the highest standards of preparation for teaching and learning, punctuality and student management. The building of a positive relationship with students and colleagues is a requirement, as is the expectation that all teachers will work to enhance the mission and values of the School, as well as the Strategic Plan of the School.
Desired Qualifications
- BA or equivalent in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education, plus teaching certification in Early Childhood Education.
- At least three years full-time teaching experience in a preschool setting, strongly preferred.
- International and independent school experience preferred.
Sample Position-Specific Qualifications will be specified in open job postings. These may include language skill, subject-matter competency and experience.
The Role
- Attending and positively contributing to faculty, grade and division meetings as scheduled by the Division Head and whole school meetings as appropriate.
- Performing snack, lunch, recess and other preschool teacher duties.
- Contributing to the wider life of the School in areas such as special projects and presentations, service learning, and by attending student events, Open House, prospective parent meetings, and other school and parent meetings. Also assisting with admissions testing.
- Maintaining an in-depth familiarity with the appropriate curricula and current teaching trends and developments.

- Possess excellent teaching skills appropriate for young children
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of interactive methodologies
- Prepare and implement appropriate class work for the development of language, motor, and cognitive skills
- Follow the School’s guidelines and curriculum
- Include activities to develop cross-cultural understanding
- Demonstrate professional strengths of gentleness, nurturing, respectfulness, consistency
- Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to early childhood social, emotional and intellectual development within an international school setting

The Early Childhood Division at The Awty International School is a dual language (French/English or Spanish/English) program containing the following:
- Pre-Kindergarten 3/Petite Section
- Pre-Kindergarten 4/Moyenne Section
- Kindergarten/Grande Section
Students spend alternating full days in either:
- English/French instruction
- English/Spanish instruction

The salary is competitive. Teacher compensation is determined by an internally published Faculty Scale built on years of relevantexperience (0-35) and highest degree earned (Bachelors, Masters and PhD).
