Position Summary
This role runs a company service truck independently, with an apprentice assigned to assist and learn on the job. You'll be the face of AWS Electric on-site — managing the job, directing your apprentice's work, and communicating clearly and professionally with the customer from arrival to completion. This is a position with real responsibility and a clear path to advancement.
Responsibilities
- Run a company service truck to residential and commercial job sites, managing your own daily schedule and route
- Lead and directly supervise an apprentice on-site — assign tasks, check their work, and teach proper technique and safety habits
- Serve as the primary point of contact with the customer: greet them, explain the scope of work in plain language, answer questions, and walk through completed work before leaving
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, panels, and equipment to code
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and specifications
- Run conduit, pull wire, and terminate devices to code
- Diagnose electrical issues and clearly explain findings, options, and pricing to the customer
- Follow all local, state, and NEC electrical codes and safety regulations, and enforce them with your apprentice
- Keep the truck stocked, organized, and stay on top of inventory and material needs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site
- Accurately complete paperwork: work orders, time tracking, material usage, and job notes
- Communicate proactively with dispatch/office on job status, delays, or additional work needed
- Attend required safety training and continuing education toward licensure advancement
- Requirements & Qualifications
- Active E1 or E2 electrician license in good standing.
- [2–4] years of hands-on electrical experience preferred; comfortable working with minimal direct supervision
- Strong customer-facing communication skills — comfortable explaining technical work to non-technical customers
- Experience or willingness to mentor and direct an apprentice
- Basic understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand/kneel for extended periods
- Professional appearance and demeanor — you'll be representing the company in customers' homes and businesses
- Reliable, punctual, and able to manage a truck and crew of two independently
- Own basic hand tools preferred (tool list provided upon hire)
Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
