You’ll create the People Development approach for our Alliances, working closely with senior leaders to understand the business challenges ahead and turn them into practical leadership and workforce development priorities. It’s about more than delivering programmes; it’s about building the thinking, relationships and frameworks that help leaders develop their people, strengthen performance and prepare the Alliance for the demands of AMP8 and beyond. What you’ll be doing: 🟢 Creating and owning the People Development strategy for the Alliances, making sure it responds to business priorities, future workforce needs and long-term capability requirements. 🟢 Acting as a trusted business partner to Executive and senior leadership teams, using their priorities, challenges and ambitions to shape practical people development plans. 🟢 Using workforce insight, business data and external trends to identify where capability is needed most and where development can make the biggest difference. 🟢 Building strong relationships across Anglian Water and partner organisations so development priorities are joined up, relevant and clearly linked to business outcomes. 🟢 Influencing senior stakeholders across a complex Alliance environment, helping leaders make confident decisions about people, capability and leadership development. 🟢 Designing a development system that goes beyond stand-alone training, bringing together leadership, team effectiveness, skills, culture and performance. 🟢 Identifying current and future skills gaps through meaningful stakeholder engagement, data and a clear understanding of where the Alliance is heading. 🟢 Leading the full development cycle, from diagnosis and design through to delivery, evaluation and measurable business impact. 🟢 Bringing fresh thinking to how people learn and develop, testing new approaches and focusing on what works in practice. What you’ll bring: ✅ Strong experience creating people development, leadership or organisational capability strategies that are clearly linked to business priorities. ✅ Experience operating in a senior L&D or people development role, with the confidence to shape thinking rather than simply deliver activity. ✅ Excellent business partnering skills, with the ability to build trust, ask the right questions and challenge senior leaders constructively. ✅ Confidence working in a complex, matrix environment where priorities, stakeholders and delivery routes need to be brought together. ✅ Experience designing scalable development frameworks, leadership approaches and capability plans that create measurable value for the business. ✅ A strong understanding of organisational development, including leadership effectiveness, culture, team performance and how people development supports business change.
