We’re now looking for a Commercial Lead – Assurance (Reservoirs) to play a pivotal role in ensuring the programme delivers value, integrity and excellence at every stage. Why this role matters This is a rare opportunity to take strategic ownership of commercial assurance across two nationally significant infrastructure projects. You’ll lead how we define, measure, and challenge commercial performance, ensuring we deliver: Value for money for customers Robust governance and compliance across a complex delivery model Confidence at Board and regulatory level What you’ll be doing Set the assurance strategy Lead the development of a programme-wide commercial assurance framework aligned to delivery, risk and regulatory milestones Embed consistent, scalable assurance practices across the programme Ensure assurance supports cost predictability, value and contract compliance Drive governance and insight Represent commercial assurance at programme boards and senior governance forums Provide forward-looking insight on risks, trends and performance Shape reporting that enables confident, data-driven decisions at senior level Lead assurance interventions Oversee independent reviews, audits and deep dives at critical delivery stages and milestones Ensure findings translate into clear, actionable improvements Maintain oversight of third-party assurance and regulatory engagement Build capability and culture Create a high-performing, inclusive assurance culture across the programme Coach and develop teams, strengthening commercial capability Embed continuous improvement and learning across delivery What we’re looking for We’re looking for a strategic leader who can operate with influence and credibility at the highest levels. You’ll bring: Extensive experience in commercial assurance, audit or governance within major infrastructure programmes Experience with estimates, target cost setting and should cost modelling Proven ability to lead assurance functions and frameworks at scale Strong stakeholder management, including engagement with senior leadership, auditors and regulators Experience working with third-party auditors and regulatory stakeholders Strong understanding of programme delivery, project lifecycles and risk-based assurance The ability to translate complex commercial data into clear insight and action Relevant professional qualification (e.g. MRICS, or equivalent) Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g. commercial, finance, law, engineering) Ready to make a lasting impact?
