Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance and operation of equipment: conveyors, elevators, dryers, scales, moisture meters, trucks, forklifts, skid‐loaders, etc.
  • Monitor grain quality (moisture, foreign material, temperature, condition) and work to minimize risk of spoilage, damage or contamination.

  • Lead, train and coach the grain operations team: assign duties, monitor performance, enforce safety rules, support professional growth, and improve operational knowledge.

  • Collaborate with Location Manager, sales, agronomy, logistics and other internal stakeholders to optimize workflow, resource allocation, customer service and seasonal staffing.
  • Develop and execute plans for busy seasons: harvest intake, storage capacity, outbound logistics, staffing adjustments, overtime scheduling.
  • Monitor, track and report key operational metrics — e.g., throughput, downtime, equipment utilization, safety incidents, grain condition losses — and initiate corrective or improvement actions.
  • Provide excellent customer service: interact with growers, truck drivers, internal teams, and external vendors in a courteous, efficient manner.
  • Create and maintain shift schedules, oversee overtime, manage staffing needs, and ensure backup coverage.
