Job Description
The Poultry Production Worker is responsible for monitoring conditions inside assigned layer houses and reporting any issues to management.
Hours: 40 hours per week. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including regular Saturday and/or Sunday shifts, overtime as needed, and holiday work as required by management.
Location: This vacancy is for our location in Guthrie Center, IA. (candidate must have a reliable way to commute).
Primary Job Duties:
- Work inside multiple chicken houses, including tasks related to production, feed, water, pits, mortality management, and pest control.
- Collaborate with managers to ensure production goals are met and operations run efficiently.
- Fill in for coworkers who miss work, quit, or take vacations; overtime may be required depending on operational needs.
- Ensure all house guidelines are followed, birds are healthy, and eggs run smoothly up the belt to the grading area.
- Perform daily mortality removal and complete the task before the shift ends.
- Maintain basic cleanliness of the houses, including daily sweeping, routine disinfection, and removal of mortality.
- Clean chicken cages of debris or anything that may affect bird health.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
- Frequent bending, lifting, and repetitive hand movements.
- Work environment inside poultry houses with exposure to dust, noise, odors, and continuous physical activity.
