Sales Order Engineering Manager Role
The Sales Order Engineering Manager plays a key role in our Sales Order Engineering team by helping to facilitate development of configured-to-order (CTO) load banks, including portable, permanent, and trailerized versions, due to increased global demand for critical power.
Main Responsibilities
- Provides technical leadership and professionalism in electrical and mechanical systems, driving technical proficiency through training and development programs.
- Delegates projects within the team to maximize resource utilization and provide cross-training to increase product knowledge.
- Evaluates employee performance and recommends status changes and salary adjustments.
- Plans and manages engineering design work queues, applying standard techniques and best practices to deliver product drawing packages and bills-of-materials within cycle time and accuracy goals.
- Reviews and evaluates sales order requirements and customer-supplied materials to suggest possible Avtron solutions and configure or develop load banks.
- Works with Sales and Applications Engineering to resolve unclear requirements and establish factory costs for configured or engineered-to-order solutions.
- Approves project releases to Manufacturing and drives value engineering, product improvement, and cost reduction.
- Ensures all product safety and quality requirements are met.

- Provides project status updates and timelines for completion.
- Adheres to all safety guidelines and promotes a proactive approach to identify and mitigate potential hazards with new product manufacturing processes.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience developing and creating new products in the electro-mechanical products space.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a related role.
- Strong knowledge of safety protocols, quality control, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Creative and flexible personality to work through changing responsibilities and customer requirements.
- Knowledge of basic electrical concepts is a plus.
- Industry-specific knowledge in the electrical testing space is a plus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License is a plus.
Education, Skills, and Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required.
Five or more years of professional experience with development, design, and engineering of mechanical-electrical systems using CAD software.
Ten or more years of professional experience within OEM electrical or mechanical domains.
Experience designing to UL, CSA, NEC, and other safety agency requirements.
Computer Skills
- 2D and 3D CAD skills are required.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- ERP systems functional understanding.
