POSITION SUMMARY:
The Harness Lead serves as a technical expert and coach, performing advanced harness and wiring tasks while training and mentoring others. This role demonstrates mastery in specialized component installation, troubleshooting, and quality assurance. The Harness Lead ensures best practices are followed and contributes to continuous improvement and process standardization. The Harness Lead plays a key role in fostering team development and process improvement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates advanced techniques and coach’s others in production, wiring, and troubleshooting.
- Trains team members on blueprint and schematic interpretation, safe handling, and quality verification.
- Explains and enforces best practices for specialized component installation (ceramics, thermocouples, Sigma wiring, transformers).
- Leads and verifies final builds, ensuring product meets quality, safety, and workmanship standards.
- Mentors on continuous improvement, defect avoidance, and advanced diagnostic techniques.
- Contributes to standardization of processes and cross-departmental knowledge sharing.
- Ensure all work meets quality and safety standards and escalate non-conforming issues.
- Coordinate with supervisors and other departments to ensure workflow continuity and resolve technical issues.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
- Communicate production status updates to leadership as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
Skills:
- 4 years, advanced expertise with proven ability to train and mentor others.
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
- Advanced mechanical and electrical assembly capabilities.
- Ability to read and interpret BOMs, work instructions, schematics, and blueprints.
- Proficiency with hand, power, and torque tools.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous learning.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Familiarity with World Class Manufacturing and lean principles (preferred).
- Prior experience training or mentoring team members preferred.
Computer Skills:
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) is preferred.
