AVStar Fuel Systems Inc. is seeking detail-oriented and experienced Quality Inspectors to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience with precision measurement equipment, and the ability to read engineering drawings and verify that machined components meet quality standards.
In this role, you will play an important part in maintaining product quality, supporting our manufacturing operations, and ensuring compliance with our Quality Management System.
Starting Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour depending on experience
We are hiring for both first and second shifts.
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (1st shift)
Monday – Friday, 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. (2nd shift) plus $1.00 per hour shift differential
Key Responsibilities
- Perform incoming, in-process, final, and packaging inspections to verify product conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Inspect machined components using precision measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, height stands, and optical comparators.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and applicable quality standards.
- Prepare and maintain Certificates of Conformance, work instructions, control plans, inspection check sheets, and production inspection documentation.
- Identify, document, investigate, and report nonconforming products and processes.
- Perform root cause analysis and support corrective and preventive action initiatives.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and communicate quality issues to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain the calibration program for inspection, measuring, and test equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Work closely with manufacturing and other departments to resolve quality issues and support continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of mechanical inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T symbols.
- Experience using precision measurement equipment, including calipers and micrometers.
- Working knowledge of dimensional inspection methods and quality control practices.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, and AS9102 standards.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and basic mathematical abilities.
- Proficiency with basic computer tasks and inspection documentation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with a team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or technical training in a related field.
- Experience with Calypso CMM programming.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
