Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Safety Specialist to ensure our construction sites are safe and compliant with industry regulations. This role involves conducting safety audits, analyzing risks, and implementing safety procedures. Key Responsibilities
• Conduct site safety audits to identify and correct potential hazards.
• Enforce safety policies, procedures, and programs across various projects.
• Investigate workplace incidents, determine root causes, and recommend solutions.
• Monitor air quality, noise levels, and ventilation to ensure a safe work environment.
• Train project managers and site employees on safety best practices.
• Analyze injury reports and safety data to improve risk management strategies.
• Participate in pre-bid and post-award contract meetings to discuss safety expectations.
• Review contractor safety plans to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Mentor and supervise junior safety personnel, reviewing their reports for accuracy.
• Take on additional safety-related duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements Experience:
• At least 10 years of full-time experience in construction safety management, focusing on accident prevention for large organizations.
Minimum Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
OR
• a Professional Safety Certification from a recognized institution.
OR
• two years of college education with a Professional Safety Certification and two additional years of full-time experience in construction safety management.
Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
• Professional Safety Certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).
• Licensed Safety Professional (LSP) from the National Association of Safety Professionals (NASP).
• Certified Safety Manager (CSM) from the National Association of Safety Professionals (NASP).
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH).
• OSHA 500 and 40-hour HAZPOWER training preferred.
