POSITION: Airport Operations Manager
REPORTS TO: Manager, Airport Services
LOCATION: Teterboro, NJ
AIRPORT: Teterboro Airport (TEB)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following:
Under the direction of the Manager, Airport Services, responsible for the efficient daily operation and administration of the airport. Responsible for managing and administering the functions and activities of the Assistant Operations Manager, Construction Supervisor, Operations Supervisors and Operations Coordinators. Ensures that the airport maintains operational compliance to the provisions of CFR 14 FAR PART 139.
The Manager, Airport Operations may delegate such technical duties as circumstances require, but without relinquishing his/her personal responsibilities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represent the Manager, Airport Services in his/her absence.
- Responsible for managing and administering the functions and activities of the Operations Department, providing direction to the Assistant Operations Manager, Construction Supervisor, Operations Supervisors and Operations Coordinators.
- Supervises and directs personnel in charge of airport operations, which includes security, aeronautical inspections and tenant compliance.
- Reviews and maintains airport emergency procedures.
- Controls the supply of materials required for the operation of the airport.
- Maintain and ensure compliance with the Airport Certification Manual (ACM), Airport Emergency Plan (AEP), Snow & Ice Control plan, FAA regulations, company policies and procedures, and all other rules and regulations as they pertain to Teterboro Airport operations.
- Assist the Manager, Airport Services in the preparation of the annual budget for the Operations Department.
- Ensures compliance with current and pertinent FAA regulations, company policies and procedures, and good housekeeping.
- Coordinates construction programs with aeronautical users and FAA control tower.
- Support the Safety Management System (SMS) and all related initiatives.
- Maintains all airport records and statistics pertaining to the airport operation.
- Assists Authority in establishing and maintaining a community information and relations program.
- Responsible for directly supporting all Quality Management System (QMS) efforts including but, not limited to, performing the function of management representative and QMS document manager.
- Direct all MIS Informational Technology efforts to ensure Teterboro Airport operations, administration, noise and environmental, and maintenance are able to function to the highest degree possible.
- Responsible to be on-site to provide oversight and coordination for all snow removal efforts.
- Responsible for overseeing the implementation of initial and re-current training programs for all Operations personnel.
- Establish and maintain positive lines of communication between various entities such as local communities, the aviation community and the FAA.
- Represent the airport in matters at various sponsor, public and user organized represented meetings.
- Maintain all airport records and statistics pertaining to the airport operation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated financial, administrative, and general management capability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Business Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- At least five (5) years’ experience in airport management and/or aviation experience.
- Possess a working knowledge of and experience in general aviation; knowledge of air carrier airport activities desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to function and manage in a complex environment.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and sustain a valid driver’s license in the person’s state of residence and maintain driver record compatible with Company’s insurance company’s criteria.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, and demonstrated ability to interact effectively with potential clients and professional associates.
- Comprehensive knowledge of computer operations, FAA and related regulations, methodology and terminology.
- Ability to work in and support a teamwork environment, including the airport’s Safety Management System.
- Through in-house training must be able to qualify for the following: snow removal techniques and operation of snow removal equipment.
- Ability to work in a teamwork environment and support Avports’ Quality Management System registered to ANSI/ISO/ASQ Q9001-2015 or related standard.
- Maintain currency in all FAA operational matters including Federal, State and Local regulations as they apply to Teterboro Airport and communicate information to staff.
- Ability to effectively interact with staff at all levels including but not limited to on and off airport personnel as well as all complainants, local, state, and federally elected and appointed officials and local community residents, individually or through public settings on technical information related to all facets of Teterboro Airport’s Noise program.
- Strong computer skills with ability to effectively utilize programs such as MS Excel, MS Word MS Access with ability to learn newly introduced programs.
- Ability to perform the duties of this classification.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, arc circumference and volume.
