Position Overview
As a Loader, you will play a vital role in the daily operations of our freight yard/terminal. You will be responsible for safely and efficiently loading and unloading freight from trucks, trailers, and containers while maintaining accuracy, organization, and adherence to safety standards. This role is physically demanding and ideal for candidates who work well in a fast-paced environment and are committed to maintaining high operational quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload freight, cargo, and materials from trucks, trailers, and containers
- Move freight using hand tools, pallet jacks, and powered equipment (e.g., forklifts, if certified)
- Stack, organize, and secure freight according to company and safety procedures
- Inspect freight for damage and report issues to supervisors
- Follow load plans, labels, and instructions to ensure correct placement and handling
- Maintain clean, safe work areas and comply with all safety protocols
- Assist with yard organization, staging, and inventory as needed
- Communicate effectively with team members, dispatchers, drivers, and supervisors
Qualifications
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs), stand, bend, and be on feet for extended periods
- Previous experience in warehouse operations, freight handling, or logistics preferred
- Basic understanding of safety practices and ability to follow direction
- Ability to work efficiently in a team environment
- Strong work ethic and punctuality
- Forklift certification a plus (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid driver’s license preferred
