Housekeeper

Overview
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors in a nursing home or long-term care facility. This role involves cleaning resident rooms, common areas, and facility spaces while following infection control and safety procedures. The Housekeeper plays an important role in supporting resident comfort, dignity, and overall quality of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, dining areas, offices, and common areas.
• Dust, mop, sweep, vacuum, and disinfect surfaces according to facility standards.
• Empty trash and replace liners in resident rooms and facility areas.
• Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as handrails, door handles, and light switches.
• Follow infection control guidelines and proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Replenish supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, soap, and sanitizer.
• Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged equipment to supervisors.
• Respect resident privacy and maintain a courteous, professional attitude when interacting with residents and staff.
• Assist with special cleaning projects such as deep cleaning or room turnover when residents are discharged or transferred.
• Follow all facility safety policies and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous housekeeping experience in healthcare, hospitality, or long-term care preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow cleaning procedures and infection control protocols.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 25–30 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.

Pay: $15.00 - $15.50 per hour
