What are the responsibilities and job description for the experienced quality inspector position at Avon Machining?
We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join our team. This role is responsible for inspecting sample parts against blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals and specifications using visual ability and/or inspection devices. The ideal candidate will have experience with gage calibration, running a CMM, PPAP's, QMS audit certifications, and the APQP process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Solid understanding of the continuous improvement fundamentals: corrective actions, deviations, root cause analysis, 8D, 5-why's
- Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings and manuals
- Perform various inspections as required in the production process, including but not limited to the first piece and final inspections
- Ensure required paperwork and computer documentation records are complete and accurate
- Read precision tools and gauges (calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges)
- Perform calibration of inspection, measurement, and test equipment
- Inspect manufactured parts to ensure that hole locations, contour measurements, and shapes conform (within prescribed tolerances) to specs using CMM
- Understand part processing sequencing and process operation control features
- Assist, as needed, with ISO-9001, AS9100D, IATF 16949
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated proficiency in AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, PFMEA)
- 5 years of experience in a Quality role
- Certification from a technical school is a plus
- Familiarity with gage tracking software, implementation and use
- Production based gage building, maintenance and repair
