Position Title: English Language Arts Long-Term Substitute

Qualifications:

• Must possess or be eligible for Connecticut State Department of Education certification that covers English Language Arts for grades 7-12.
• Degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in English or English education.

Reports to: Building Principal and/or designee

Compensation: In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education.

Period of Assignment: Starts on or about April 27, 2026, and ends on or about June 19, 2026.

Responsibilities: The English Language Arts Long-Term Substitute has the following responsibilities as listed below and other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned by the Building Principal and/or designee:

• Prepare instructional resources and assessments that support the delivery of the Avon Public School's curriculum, particularly the ELA discipline.
• Develop and implement lesson plans, unit plans, and educational projects to ensure students’ academic development.
• Provide differentiated instructional strategies and assessment and/or modify the curriculum to meet the learning needs of students with structured learning plans (IEPs and 504s)
• Provide support to all learners who require additional help or guidance with academic problems and concepts.
• Other responsibilities as defined by the building principal or designee.
