MISSION
Lead product design and development across our metalwood categories (drivers, fairway woods, and hybrids), bringing deep golf industry engineering experience to drive performance, innovation, and manufacturing excellence. This is a senior role in a fast-growing brand with serious room to shape the future of our product line and take on increasing responsibility as Avoda scales.
OUTCOMES - What Success Looks Like
- New driver, fairway wood, and hybrid designs are conceptualized, prototyped, and brought to market on schedule.
- Product performance targets (ball speed, launch, spin, MOI) consistently meet or exceed competitive benchmarks.
- Manufacturing processes are optimized for quality, cost, and efficiency through strong supplier partnerships.
- The engineering and R&D pipeline is robust, with a clear roadmap for future metalwood innovations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the end-to-end product development cycle for drivers, fairway woods, and hybrids, from blue-sky concept to mass production.
- Utilize advanced 3D CAD software (e.g SolidWorks) for complex clubhead surfacing and modeling.
- Conduct advanced FEA and structural analysis to optimize clubhead performance, durability, and acoustics.
- Manage prototyping, testing, and validation phases, translating player feedback and launch monitor data into actionable design improvements.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing team to ensure design intent is maintained through production.
- Establish and maintain product specifications, tolerances, and quality control standards.
REQUIREMENTS
- Many years of proven experience in the golf equipment industry, specifically focused on metalwoods (drivers, fairway woods, hybrids).
- Expert-level proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (advanced surfacing) and FEA software.
- Deep understanding of golf club manufacturing processes, including titanium casting, composite materials, and weighting technologies.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex testing data (launch monitors, player testing) to refine designs.
- Ability to work independently and drive projects forward as part of a lean, agile team.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with leadership, marketing, and global supply chain partners.
DESIRABLE
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- A passion for golf and a deep understanding of player needs across all skill levels.
- Previous experience managing direct reports or leading cross-functional engineering teams.
