Position Overview
Avocet Aviation Services is seeking an Aviation Engineer – MRO Operations & Planning to support heavy maintenance and operational planning activities within our FAA Part 145 environment. This role plays a key part in bridging Engineering, Maintenance, Planning, Quality, and Operations to ensure maintenance events are executed efficiently, safely, and in full regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support for scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, including heavy checks and modifications
- Develop and review engineering task cards, work instructions, and maintenance packages using approved data
- Support maintenance planning activities, including work scope definition, labor estimates, and task sequencing
- Interpret and apply OEM manuals (AMM, SRM, IPC, CMM), Airworthiness Directives, service bulletins, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to support airworthiness, conformity, audits, and return-to-service activities
- Assist with reliability analysis, defect trend monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Act as a technical liaison between Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Customer Technical Representatives
- Maintain accurate engineering and planning documentation within MRO and ERP systems
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent aviation technical experience)
- 8 years of experience in aircraft maintenance engineering, maintenance planning, or MRO operations
- Working knowledge of FAA regulations and OEM maintenance documentation
- Experience supporting heavy maintenance events (C-checks, D-checks, or equivalent)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred:
- Experience in Part 145 repair station environment
- Familiarity with reliability programs and maintenance optimization
- A&P license or prior hands-on maintenance experience (a plus)
