Job Summary

Under the supervision of the MHS Clinical Supervisor, the MHS-LYU Therapist is responsible for a caseload of youth who attend Aviva’s Lifting Youth Up Drop-In Center. The MHS Therapist provides on-site mental health services to individuals while they are participating in Aviva’s LYU Drop-in Center. This position will also provide crisis intervention, work in collaboration with MHS case managers, LYU case managers and LYU youth partners. The MHS-LYU Therapist is responsible for completing all required paperwork in accordance with Aviva, DMH, DCFS, and COA.

Responsibilities

The MHS-LYU Therapist is also responsible for providing additional therapeutic services to support both department and agency operations. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting MAT (Multidisciplinary Assessment Team) program assessments
  • Performing mental health assessments
  • Delivering on-going mental health services as needed

The MHS-LYU Therapist is an energetic self-starter who is able to function comfortably in a team environment or independently and relates well to co-workers and County representatives. This position requires flexibility and the ability to manage time and multiple tasks with little supervision. The individual in this position must be able to assume a wide range of responsibilities, provide timely responses to requests and deadlines and works well under pressure.

Essential Functions

  • Provide individual, group and family therapy as therapeutically necessary as indicated in the individuals’ treatment goals for services.
  • Complete and submit all documentation and Case Record Reviews in accordance with agency and county expected timelines.
  • Maintain active caseload to meet service time expectations as assigned.
  • Attends individual supervision, group supervision, team supervision, and required trainings as assigned.
  • Notifies their Clinical Supervisor, Director, or Assistant Vice President of the program, to ensure that necessary action and coverage can be arranged, if necessary, when ill, on vacation or in cases of emergency.
  • Updates Outlook calendars and appointments at minimum weekly.
  • Provide case management, coordination of services, crisis intervention, referrals and outreach services when needed.
  • Participate as a member of multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with intra-agency staff, County staff, referring agencies, physicians, and the community.
  • Coordinate emergency psychiatric support services, when needed.
  • Schedules work time effectively to accomplish all tasks and is present for required meetings while meeting the needs of the clients and of the agency.
  • Provide trauma informed care – participate in trauma informed training as assigned.
  • Sensitive and responsive to the cultural differences among the agency’s client population.
  • Actively participate in quality improvement projects.

The MHS-LYU Therapist will take on special projects or additional duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor, MHS Director or Assistant Vice President of Mental Health Services (AVP-MHS).

Salary : $33 - $35
